The Inclusion Ambassadors is a group of self-advocates who stand up for people with disabilities. The members conduct presentations throughout the Ottawa Valley. Their goal is to create awareness about people with disabilities and promote inclusion.
Speakers share their own personal stories about life; experiences, relationships, being part of their community, advocacy, challenges, employment and perseverance. The group is available to speak at community events, clubs, classrooms, organizational and religious settings. Presentations can be tailored to individual group needs, and the group has experience with audiences both large and small.
There is no cost to book the Inclusive Ambassadors.
Examples of Topics:

Sharing personal stories and inclusion in community life.
Experiences with self-advocacy and standing up for themselves
Employment experiences and the impact upon their lives
The Inclusion Ambassadors meet monthly to discuss community events, issues of concern locally and/or broader areas that have impact on the rights of persons with disabilities. Members plan together, take action together and have a positive impact on others. Members may also sit on other community committees.
The Inclusion Ambassadors group is a way for individuals with intellectual disabilities to work together to tackle change, and work on community initiatives. The group also offers opportunity to build self-esteem, confidence and individual growth.
